My name is Sarah Tedford, and I am finishing my second year in the Elementary Education Program at the University of Victoria. I have always enjoyed working with children and I want to be able to help them learn and grow. I would like to become a teacher because I want my students to enjoy school and I want to teach them in a way that helps them stay engaged and wanting to learn. I want to be a role model for my students, and be someone they can look up to and someone that helps shape them into who they are becoming.

I have also always loved being outside and playing sports, so I would love to incorporate these interests into my future teaching. Spending time in nature, whether that be camping, walking, hiking, at the beach, or just sitting outside with my family or friends has always been something that makes me so happy.

Sports have always been one of my favourite activities, and I have been playing different sports since I was young. I have been playing basketball for half of my life, and it is my favourite sport. I have played on teams both in and out of school since I was about 10 and I love it. I have friends that like basketball as well, so it is fun to take a ball and go shoot around and play, whether in a gym or at a court outside.

One other hobby of mine is art. I find it fun and relaxing to spend time working on a craft. Finding new ideas and activities to try is very enjoyable for me. I believe this will help me when I am a teacher because I will need to be creative and artistic in order to plan and run activities for my students.
